Isa Rosenberger is an artist based in Vienna. Her artistic approach is marked by a particular interest in politics of memory and in social and political transformation processes.
In order to engage with cultural and socio-political developments she often enters into a communicative exchange with contemporary witnesses she interviews about their personal experiences and perspectives upon (recent) historical events. Thereby her interlocutors not only become protagonists in her work, but also – to an extent – co-authors time and time again. By combining these documentations with performative elements and by juxtaposing subjective views and everyday biographies with the canonised representations of history, Rosenberger examines the construction of reality and the power of images related to it, in this way seeking to allow established stories to be newly reflected upon.

Isa Rosenberger graduated from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and completed postgraduate studies at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
Her practice includes video, installation, photography and site-specific and commissioned works. Rosenberger´s work has been exhibited internationally in numerous group and solo exhibitions. In 2008 she has received the 28th Otto Mauer Prize and in 2012 an Outstanding Artist Award for Video and Media Arts. Since 1999 she has held several teaching positions, including at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the Vienna University of Technology.
